Former U.S. vice president Joe Biden launched his campaign Saturday in Philadelphia for the 2020 presidential race, which is crowded with nearly two dozens of his Democratic colleagues who are competing in the race.
After an introductory speech by wife Jill Biden admiring her husband’s suitability for the presidential position, candidate Biden took to the stage amid slogans of “We want Joe” from a sizable crowd in the Saturday rally. “I need you,” Biden reciprocated.
As most part of his speech was designed to target President Donald Trump and his anti-people policies, Biden called Trump the “Divider-in-Chief” who is dividing Americans on the basis of their color, creed, and religious affiliations.
Biden, 77, compared Trump with the contemporary dictators such as Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Supreme Leader of North Korea Kim Jong Un – both of whom are Trump’s close companions.
Biden did not stop there and called Trump a lawless politician who is challenging the very existence of Congress by defying its requests for cooperation in a number of probes that the Congress has launched to check the autocratic behavior of Trump.
Candidate Biden promised to keep America united by defeating Trump, although it is also believed that Trump may not be in the race next year as Democrats are planning to start impeachment proceedings against him for his alleged secret ties with enemy nation Russia and the obstruction of justice charge.
Among other issues crucial in the ongoing presidential campaigns, Biden also promised to protect the environment, build a stronger economy, and nurture better relations with America’s allies in all parts of the world.
