Big Skinny Owns the World’s Largest Wallet
Historic Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts plays host every day in December to the World’s Largest Wallet, freshly crowned by Guinness World Records.
More than just a simple celebration to kick off the holiday shopping season, the 21’x10′ wallet is also a fund-raising vehicle to remind holiday shoppers to help the poor and needy.
Cambridge, Mass.-based walletiers Big Skinny makes wallets, which are claimed to be the thinnest in the world.
[ Also Read: Meet the New Tallest Married Couple ]It has created the giant wallet as a unique way to raise funds for more than eleven non-profit partner organizations such as the Harvard Square Homeless Shelter, PATS Kids, Salvation Army, and others.
Each has a wallet pocket and their representatives stand at the wallet every day in December increasing awareness and growing donations. Visitors can also donate online to the non-profit of their choice at www.bigskinny.net.
Also, the Big Skinny website streams live video of the wallet. Over 10,000 viewers have already watched the passionate dedication of the non-profits and charities braving winter weather in Harvard Square to help the poor and needy.

Big Skinny creative director Catherine Alexandrov spent hundreds of production hours constructing the wallet in her Cambridge office.
“The wallet is a perfect counterpoint to the commercialism of this season,” said Alexandrov. “Our hope is that our big crimson wallet urges folks to open their wallets to help address the needs of the underserved community.”
