Bollywood Film Depicts Romeo and Juliet Story

Eros International Plc (Eros), a leading company in the Indian film industry has announced a $14.9 million gross weekend worldwide for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela.

The Indian take on the classic Romeo and Juliet story starring Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh in its lead roles, released worldwide on 15th November in over 3,500 screens and grossed $10.9 million in India and $4.0 million internationally.

Eros says that according to www.boxofficeindia.com Ram-Leela had the third highest opening weekend box-office gross this year and as per www.bollywoodhungama.com, the film ranks 11th on the all-time Top 25 Opening weekend box-office gross.

Internationally, the film had the highest grossing first weekend film for a Bollywood release in a weekend without extended public holidays. Ram-Leela is also currently on the 9th spot on the box office charts in the United Kingdom, says Eros.
