LG and Gameloft Host 3D Gaming Tournament

LG Mobile and Gameloft, a leading global publisher of digital and social games, brought gaming alive Tuesday with the “N.O.V.A. 3D” gaming tournament in the middle of historical Hollywood.

Using LG Thrill 4G, a glasses-free 3D smartphone, gamers gathered at the trendy Hollywood & Highland Center to compete for the chance to be crowned tournament champion and win more than $10,000 worth of LG products.

The 3D gaming event took place throughout the day as gamers and consumers competed in timed preliminary rounds of “N.O.V.A. 3D,” a Gameloft property, for the chance to qualify for the final tournament.

The top 16 qualifiers battled it out during intense matches of “N.O.V.A. 3D” until Carlos Bautista proved victorious and was named champion, winning a new LG Thrill 4G phone, an LG Infinia 65-inch Cinema 3D 1080p LED HDTV, an LG 3D Wireless Blu-ray player, and a $100 AT&T gift card among other prizes.

During the culmination of the tournament, “N.O.V.A.” was visually brought to life with a 3D mapping projection at the Hollywood & Highland Center’s central courtyard that brought onlookers into the action.

“As mobile gaming continues to increase in popularity, it was important that LG show how Thrill 4G is not only an incredibly powerful smartphone, but also a premiere handheld gaming device,” said Tim O’Brien, vice president of marketing for LG Mobile.

“By partnering with revered mobile gaming publisher Gameloft for this gaming event, we were able to effectively engage a large and varied audience to showcase firsthand the many benefits of glasses-free 3D gaming.”
