Survey Reveals Celeb Hook-Ups and Break-Ups
Online dating destination Chemistry.com today revealed the results of a poll of 2,400 singles that evaluated the past year in relationships and looks forward to what’s next for love in 2011.
At the close of a headline-stealing year that featured stunning celebrity break-ups, an academy award winner’s domestic abuse case and a royal engagement, U.S. singles have distinct views and strong opinions about the couples who have disappointed, surprised and delighted them, says Chemistry.
This year’s favorite celebrity couple and most well-matched duo are Hollywood institutions.
[ Also Read: Hot Show for 40 Ways to Better Sex Tonight ]In the survey, 30% of respondents chose Michael Douglas, who is facing a cancer battle, and his wife of 10 years, Catherine Zeta-Jones, as their favorite celebrity couple, surpassing Brangelina by 5%.
Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, a couple known for their candor about their marriage and sex lives, were voted most well-matched with 43% of the vote.
[ Also Read: So You Think You Can Write Romance ]The couple least well-suited for each other was Renee Zellwegger and Bradley Cooper who garnered only 1.9% of the vote, signaling possible compatibility problems ahead.
Although the Kardashians were ubiquitous in 2010, and the Housewives franchise dominated TV, users chose Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rinna from “Harry Loves Lisa” as their favorite reality show couple. Matt Lauer and Chelsea Handler came in neck and neck as this year’s hottest TV hosts.

The break-up of a former political power couple proved to be the most shocking upset of the year. Chemistry.com members voted Al and Tipper Gore the most surprising break-up, catapulting past Sandra Bullock and Jesse James’ post-Oscar split.
[ Also Read: Get Ready to Meet Single Ladies ]Of those unlucky in love, Mel Gibson fared most poorly among Chemistry members. Gibson was named the most disappointing husband of 2010, capturing 46.9% of the vote, handily surpassing LeAnn Rimes and Kelsey Grammar.
Chemistry.com members were perplexed by some odd love matches this year. Despite being named the hottest TV host, Chelsea Handler was also crowned the most mismatched couple for her alleged hook-up with rapper 50 Cent.
According to U.S. singles, there will be many peaks and valleys in the love landscape in 2011. Fresh off a new engagement, Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson were voted the couple most likely to break-up in 2011.
In optimistic news, on and off again couple Drew Barrymore and Justin Long are most likely to make it official in 2011 and tie the knot.

Users are also hopeful that Courtney Cox and David Arquette can patch things up, with 41% giving them the best chance at a second time around.
Another former “friend” is the recipient of members’ goodwill. Eternally single Jennifer Aniston is the celebrity that people most want to see find love in the new year.
