Why Delhi LG Must Not Regularize the Services of Teachers

The regularization of the services of guest teachers in the government schools has become a hot-potato issue in Delhi’s politics.
In order to woo the voters in the teaching community, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal delivered a loud speech – often interrupted by his coughs – in the Delhi Assembly on Wednesday to get a bill passed in favor of teachers.
The bill aims to regularize the services of over 15,000 guest teachers who are working on contractual basis in Delhi schools.
Although Kejriwal blamed Lt. Governor of Delhi (LG) Anil Baijal for obstructing the move to regularize the teachers’ jobs, he knows that all temporary as well as permanent school teachers of Delhi are so bad that they deserve to be thrown out of their jobs.

In fact, teachers in Delhi Government schools have become a burden on the education system. Today, the schools are crowded with herds of stray students and illiterate teachers who are having a ball with public money. Teachers are so raw and crude that they are clueless about the subjects they are supposed to teach.
If, as an experiment, these teachers are asked to appear in a properly designed test to know their own education and skill levels, almost all of them will fail. Then why does Kejriwal want to protect them?
[ Who Is Responsible for Crimes and Corruption in Delhi Schools? ]
Instead of throwing these teachers out of the jobs, the Delhi Government is wasting money on their salaries and training. But actually the teachers are not even trainable. They are corrupt who are interested only in their salaries while most teachers do not even try to acquire modern skills to improve the quality of education in their own subjects.
Recently, education minister Manish Sisodia said the tragedy of government schools is that most reforms are poorly implemented and the quality of education in schools is deteriorating.

When Kejriwal’s own education minister admits that the quality of education in schools is bad, Kejriwal should not only lay off the teachers, but he should also kick out his education minister.
Although in his speech Kejriwal praised Sisodia’s work in Delhi’s education sector, he knows that Sisodia (like most of the ministers in Delhi Government) is a naive nut. He has no knowledge of the modern education and pedagogical methods.
With his poor academic and administrative background, Sisodia – with the support of equally incompetent Kejriwal – is spoiling the careers of hundreds of thousands of students who study in Delhi schools.
[ Why Are Most Degree Holders Unemployed in India? ]
Sisodia never tried to know that teachers in schools keep wasting their time on their mobile phones while they are in the classrooms. Sisodia never tried to know that in order to falsely show good results, teachers allow students to cheat in the examination halls. Sisodia never tried to know that teachers allow students to bunk classes.
As a result of teachers’ incompetence and dishonesty, the students in Class 10 or Class 12 do not know even the basic arithmetic involving addition, subtraction, etc. They cannot write even in Hindi and their understanding of English is pathetic, as school teachers themselves are not quite competent to teach English.
In other words, the knowledge level of students who clear Class 10 or Class 12 exams is worse than even those who are in the primary level.
Then how do such students clear Class 10 or Class 12 exams? This is all because of mass copying in schools allowed by school teachers to show the better performance of schools. If such students are asked to sit again in closely monitored exams, nine out of every ten students will fail.

Both Kejriwal and Sisodia tell blatant lies when they say they have reformed Delhi’s education system. Education is useless if it is not linked with employability of students. Kejriwal’s concept of education is only about politics and votes. He and his government are not interested in empowering students with education so that they could earn a decent livelihood.
In his Assembly speech, Kejriwal demanded the removal of Lt. Governor because he is not regularizing the services of guest teachers. But if Lt. Governor succumbed and regularized their services, it will be the worst decision that he would take. And it will also be a sin as he will be depriving the poor students of their right to good education.

Instead of regularizing the services of guest teachers – most of whom are duffers – the Lt. Governor should terminate the services of even regular teachers. In order to save education in Delhi, the Lt. Governor should also hold a thorough investigation in the racket that Kejriwal and his government are trying to run in the name of education.
Important Note: I have written the above report after meeting hundreds of students who study in Delhi schools and their parents who are deeply disturbed with Delhi’s education system which is founded on mere political lies of Kejriwal and Sisodia.
