27 More Kejriwal’s AAP MLAs Face Disqualification: Congress

A Congress leader Ajay Maken says that after Sunday’s disqualification of 20 MLAs of Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), 27 more legislators are facing a boot.
“We are aware that in health committees of Delhi Government, 27 MLAs have been appointed and many of them have been given plum position in these committees. Some of these MLAs are also Parliamentary Secretaries,” Maken said.
Earlier on Sunday, 20 AAP MLAs who were accused of holding ‘office of profit’ as Parliamentary Secretaries were disqualified by the President of India Ram Nath Kovind on the recommendation of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Now the number of AAP MLAs is reduced from 66 to 46 in the 70-member Delhi Assembly. And if 27 more are disqualified, AAP will be left with only 19 MLAs in the Assembly.

As Kejriwal government was squandering public money to give luxurious treatment to these MLAs, most believe that it is another case of corruption in the Kejriwal government.
According to the Constitution, Delhi is supposed to have only 7 ministers including the chief minister (CM). But, according to Maken, Kejriwal had given 21 more MLAs positions equivalent to ministers under the garb of Parliamentary Secretaries.
Since AAP MLA Jarnail Singh had resigned from the Rajouri Garden seat to contest the Punjab Assembly election in February 2017, the case was continuing against 20 MLAs.

“It is a case of corruption and we want CM Kejriwal to resign,” Maken stated. Congress held massive protests in Delhi on Monday to demand Kejriwal’s resignation.
Similarly, Delhi BJP President Manoj Tiwari said Monday that full election for all the 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly must be held, and not just for the 20 seats on which AAP MLAs have been disqualified.
