Diet Coke’s Show Your Heart Fashion Event
Diet Coke rocked the runway with the “Show Your Heart” Fashion Event at The Ohio State University. First Lady of Ohio Karen Kasich joined Diet Coke, OSU student leaders and community representatives at the event in support of heart health awareness programs.
The fashion show provided a platform for the community to “show their heart” while demonstrating a personal commitment to heart health education. It was announced Thursday, March 1.
Recently, actress Minka Kelly and fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg teamed up with Diet Coke and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s (NHLBI) The Heart Truth campaign. (Read: Minka Kelly Showing a Little Heart on Diet Coke)
Earlier, Mimi’s Cafe decided to give a piece of its heart to the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement. The neighborhood bistro inspired by France is the first-ever restaurant to nationally support the effort, it claims. (Read: Mimi’s Café Going Red for Women’s Heart)
“We all know a woman who may be at risk for cardiovascular disease—I lost my own mother to complications from the disease, as well as multiple family members and recently a dear friend,” said Karen Waldbillig Kasich, Ohio First Lady and wife of Governor John Kasich.
”That’s why I’m joining Diet Coke in its continuing commitment to The Heart Truth—to educate people about the importance of heart health. The fashion show provided a fun way to raise awareness about a health issue that has touched us all.”

Local retailers Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Francesca’s, Whitehouse Black Market and Anthropologie provided red clothing for the fashion show in honor of American Heart Month. Health information and screenings were also offered to those in participating.
