Britain’s Biggest Bouquet to Spread More Love

At nearly 6 metres in height and 5 metres in diameter and comprising 12,000 stems this is one bouquet created with the intention to spread as much love as possible.

In fact, the largest bouquet ever assembled by expert florists has been created with just that in mind: because passers-by at Potters Fields are free to pick the flowers that are the favourite of someone they love – or simply for themselves.

The bouquet was created by the Flower Council to celebrate the launch of My Favourite Flower, where Brits can go online to pick their favourite flower and have the chance to win a bunch sent to them.

New research by Flower Council has revealed that almost a third (31 per cent) of British women get bought their favourite flowers just once a year. Meanwhile, one in four women (24 per cent) and two thirds of men (64 per cent) reveal they never get bought flowers at all.

Whether taking a place in homes or offices, the flowers from Britain’s Biggest Bouquet should help to trigger an emotional benefit. The new findings also showed that flowers help to lift our mood (80 per cent) and receiving our favourite flower builds a stronger emotional connection with the person who gave them (64 per cent).

Survey of 2000 people across Britain was conducted by One Poll.

The bouquet itself is a reflection of Britain’s favourite blooms, created after the Flower Council of Holland conducted research to find out the nation’s favourite flowers, with the rose pipping the tulip to first place.

The top 10 UK favourite flowers are as follows:

  1. Rose
  2. Tulip
  3. Lily
  4. Orchids
  5. Freesia
  6. Calla lily
  7. Carnation
  8. Helianthus
  9. Delphinium
  10. Amaryllis

The Flower Council is a not-for-profit organisation that promotes the sale of floricultural products from the Netherlands on behalf of breeders, growers and traders.
