Delhiites to Have the Option to Choose Electricity Retailer: Narendra Modi
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised to bring competition in the power business so consumers will be able to choose their electricity service provider (ESP).

Stepping up its campaign for the forthcoming Assembly election in Delhi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a pre-poll election rally in the city today.
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi – who is also the leader of the ruling BJP in India – was among the key speakers at the event. Addressing the audience, Modi made myriad promises to woo the Delhi voters. Corruption-free governance, houses for the slum dwellers, and enhanced water supply was among his promises.
Although Delhi is the capital of India, the residents of Delhi do not get regular water and power supply. But Modi promised to bring good days for Delhiites (residents of Delhi) if BJP is elected in Delhi.

He promised to provide 24-hour power supply to Delhi residents, who, he said, will get rid of the fuel-driven power-generation systems and the related pollution.
Modi also promised to bring competition in the power business so consumers will be able to choose their electricity service provider (ESP) like they do in the case of mobile services. Currently, electricity business is monopolized in Delhi. Depending on the service quality and price, you can select your ESP, he suggested.
With a subtle reference to Arvind Kejriwal – a leader of the opposition Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Modi advised the voters not to vote for trouble-makers who believe in anarchy and keep protesting on footpaths.
Kejriwal who is known for his crude protests on the roads was a Chief Minister in Delhi for just 49 days before he resigned in February 2014.
Now three main political parties – AAP, BJP, and Congress – will be in the fray for the forthcoming Delhi election, although the date for election has not yet been decided.
