Will Rahul Gandhi be the New Congress President?

If you prefer to believe in rumours, you should not have any hesitation in accepting this rumour as true. The buzz is getting louder that Nehru-Gandhi scion Rahul Gandhi is all set to take Congress party’s reigns in his hands some time during April.
As it was expected, mother Sonia Gandhi will pass on the baton to son Rahul, who is enjoying leave since Monday at an undisclosed destination.
It may be a coincident that Rahul decided to proceed on leave exactly on the day Parliament Session began. It’s believed that he is making a fool-proof plan for his party’s revival after its crushing defeat in the 2014 Lok Sabha election and subsequent Assembly elections in various States.

Although the contents of his plan are not yet revealed, the biggest challenge for Rahul will be to carry out an overhaul for Congress, which has become a cesspool of corruption and carelessness.
Rahul has always maintained that to weed out filth from the party, it will need to sit in the opposition in Lok Sabha. And now he has the right opportunity to restructure the crumbling party edifice, as Congress is almost finished, and with just 44 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha, it’s not even a significant opposition party.

As party President, Rahul would need to run Congress affairs like a forward-looking, professional outfit. For this to happen, he will have to take some major surgical steps.
The most important of them will be to remove the label of dynastic, family fiefdom from the Congress banner. If he really thinks it’s an urgent need, he will have to immediately remove the sons, daughters, nephews, and nieces of old politicians from the party.
Similarly, he will have to identify and throw out the dead wood from Congress and run the party as a fresh entity with custom strategies built for all stakeholders in and around the party.
Rahul is expected back from leave in early March. You can get ready to meet a new Rahul who is expected to pull out the Congress party from deep doldrums.
