Indian Athletes Get Ready for the Olympics Picnic
Believe it or not, the Olympics performance is directly proportional to the economic performance of a country.

Disturbing Facts:
– In Olympics (from 1896 – 2012) India could win only 9 gold medals – 8 in Field Hockey and 1 in Shooting.
– In the past three Olympics (2004, 2008, 2012), India sent 212 athletes who could win only 10 medals including only one gold.
– In contrast, during these three Olympics (2004, 2008, 2012), China won 251 medals including 121 gold medals.
– In 2016, India will send more than 100 athletes. What will they do?

Given these facts, it appears that Indian athletes go to Olympics for mere pastime. But it doesn’t stop India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi to praise them ostensibly.
Today Modi met over 60 athletes who will be part of India’s contingent at the Rio Olympic Games.
He met each athlete individually, besides interacting informally with the athletes. He encouraged the athletes to perform to the best of their ability in the world’s biggest sporting arena.

Several former Olympians including MC Mary Kom, Anju Bobby George, and P. Gopichand were among those present at the gathering.
According to a government statement, over 100 Indian athletes from 13 different disciplines have qualified for the Rio Olympics.

The Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Jitendra Singh was also present on the occasion.
The Olympics event is scheduled to take place August 5 – 21 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
