Prime Minister of India Will Destroy the Nation: Mamata Banerjee
Maintaining her attack on the government over the issue of demonetization, Bengal Chief Minister (CM) Mamata Banerjee today accused Prime Minister (PM) of India Narendra Modi of being blind to the sufferings of common people. She was addressing a public meeting in Bankura.
“Farmers are suffering. People do not have cash to buy supplies. Traders are also suffering but PM fails to see their woes. By the time realization dawns on him, nation will be destroyed,” she said.
Modi had demonetized currency notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 on November 8, saying that the step has been taken to check corruption and stop the flow of black money.

Common people and opposition parties in India are up in arms against the government because the decision to stop the circulation of currency is causing severe hardships to commoners.
This war-like situation is causing deaths of innocent people who keep standing in queues even in harsh weather with the hope to get their old currency exchanged from banks.
Now, the government is adding fuel to the fire by promoting digital payments because tech infrastructure in India is not ready to handle digital transactions.

“There are long queues outside banks. Labourers are not getting wages under 100 days work. How will their families run?” asked CM Mamata Banerjee.
She also warned against attempts being made to disturb the peace in her State. “Bengal is a land of harmony, peace and progress. Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians all live together here,” she said.
The CM added that she will continue to work for the people as long as she is alive.
