Delhi’s chief-minister-without-work Arvind Kejriwal has finally decided to do some work in the government.
After staying without any ministerial portfolio since winning the Delhi Assembly election in 2015, today Kejriwal took charge of Water Ministry. He also will serve as the chairman of Delhi Jal Board (DJB).
Kejriwal is taking over the water portfolio from Rajendra Pal Gautam, who was given the water department in May after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) minister Kapil Mishra was sacked, as he was trying to expose corruption in Kejriwal government.
Meanwhile, Delhi BJP President Manoj Tiwari said today that Delhi Government’s Jal Board is a big centre of corruption.
Tiwari said that Delhi BJP has been continuously saying that Delhi Jal Board is completely involved in corruption and the work connected with the people is not being done.

“The Water Tanker Scam which started during Sheila Diskhit regime continues even today whereas the Chief Minister had admitted this scam in the Legislative Assembly,” Tiwari said.
Similarly, he said, DJB has proved to be a white elephant in the case of cleaning sewer lines. Water logging is seen everywhere during the rainy season in Delhi. There is a scam in all the DJB activities like desilting of drains, laying of sewer lines of cleaning, and so on, the BJP leader stated.
He further said that it would not be an exaggeration to say that out of every rupee spent on the schemes of DJB, 80 to 90 paise are consumed by corruption which is not possible without political patronage and today Arvind Kejriwal Government is responsible for it.

On the removal of Water Minister Rajender Gautam, Delhi BJP President said that when the entire corrupt activities are going on under the knowledge of the Chief Minister then changing the Water Minister is nothing but to mislead the people.
“It is possible that Water Minister is being changed again and again because either he is obstructing the corrupt activities or he is demanding more shares in it,” Tiwari said, adding that Kejriwal government should issue a white paper on the activities of DJB during the last 30 months.
