Modi Unleashed Terror on Citizens with Demonetization: Rahul Gandhi
Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi said Thursday that India’s Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi used his vast powers to unleash “terror on citizens” with the imposition of demonetization decision last year on November 8.
Rahul Gandhi was speaking at an event organized by a leading industry association PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Gandhi attacked Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for leaving the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in a lull with its policies.
“On November 8, we will mark the death anniversary of 500 and 1000 rupee notes. PM didn’t understand the fundamental economic point that all cash is not black and all black is not cash,” he said.

Modi had demonetized currency notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 last year with the belief that his decision will help check corruption and stop the flow of black money in the country. But his decision has caused a total chaos and corruption has, in fact, increased manifold in India.
Meanwhile, the Opposition Coordination Committee – a group of 18 opposition parties in India – met Monday to discuss the adverse effects of demonetization.
Legislators, along with civil society leaders, have resolved to observe November 8, 2017, the first anniversary of the Demonetization Disaster, as Black Day in the country. In response, BJP has decided to observe November 8 as “Anti Black Money Day.”
