Supreme Court Admits Petition in Rafale Corruption Case
The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a plea that seeks to issue directions to the Central Government headed by PM Narendra Modi to reveal the price and other details of the controversial Rafale deal. The hearing is scheduled for October 10.
The newly appointed Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi today admitted the plea filed by law practitioner Vineet Dhanda. A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi – along with justices SK Kaul and KM Joseph – will hear the plea.
In his public interest litigation (PIL), Dhanda urged the court to issue orders for the government to reveal the details of the deal and comparative prices during the UPA and NDA rule. He also sought information regarding the contract given to Reliance by France-based Rafale maker Dassault Aviation.

Reports suggest that last month the court had adjourned the hearing on a plea filed by petitioner advocate ML Sharma till October 10. The lawyer had sought orders to be given to register an FIR, recover money, and prosecute PM Modi, ex-Defence minister Manohar Parrikar, Reliance Group chairman Anil Ambani, and France-based Rafale maker Dassault Aviation.

Former BJP ministers Yashwant Sinha and Arun Shourie, and lawyer-activist Prashant Bhushan have also filed a complaint with the CBI, urging the agency to register an FIR against PM Modi and former defence minister Manohar Parrikar.
The complaint alleges that Modi and Parrikar have committed a number of offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act, in the course of the April 2015 decision to purchase 36 Rafale aircraft from Dassault Aviation. The complaint was handed over to Alok Verma, director of the CBI, on Thursday.
