Pakistan Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan said today that his country’s army is ready for a war with India to achieve the freedom for the people of Kashmir, which is a disputed territory between India and Pakistan.

He also declared that he is the “Ambassador of Kashmir” who will go to all parts of the world to inform people about the human rights violations in the Indian-Occupied Kashmir (IOK) where the Indian security forces are keeping 8 million Kashmiris under curfew which was imposed 3 weeks ago.

Imran Khan was delivering a special speech to the people of Pakistan to inform them about the sorry plight of millions of Muslims who are facing extreme oppression unleashed by India.

The tension between India and Pakistan and the unrest in Kashmir have escalated, as the Indian government headed by Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi abruptly abrogated Article 370 of the Constitution that ensured special privileges for the people of Kashmir.

Although the Kashmir issue is internationally recognized as a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan, Modi government has claimed that the change of the constitutional status in Kashmir is its internal matter in which Pakistan cannot interfere.

The Modi government’s annexation of Kashmir is being viewed as a unilateral, authoritarian move, which is expected to make Kashmir a veritable inferno because most people of Kashmir do not want to live under Indian rule.

A recent article in The New York Times reports that an estimated 70,000 people, civilians, militants and security forces have been killed in the conflict. Thousands have been “disappeared,” and tens of thousands have passed through torture chambers that dot the Kashmir valley like a network of small-scale Abu Ghraibs.

As the Modi government has taken the decision against the will of Kashmiris (most of them are Muslims), the government is expecting a backlash from the locals who attack the violent Indian security personnel with stones and other homemade weapons.

In order to suppress the voice of people with force, India has imposed curfew in Kashmir while people are virtually jailed in their homes. Plus, the despotic Indian regime is not allowing the press to cover the fateful situation in Kashmir.

The Indian government has also arrested nearly 400 politicians, including former Kashmir Chief Ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, who want freedom for Kashmiris.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that people in Kashmir are breaking the curfew and holding protests and demonstrations against the dictatorial move of the Modi government. It is believed that some 10,000 protesters have been punished by the authorities.

Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General António Guterres has urged India and Pakistan to exercise maximum restraint and resolve the Kashmir issue with peaceful means. He also has expressed his concern over reports of restrictions on the Indian side of Kashmir, which – he said – could exacerbate the human rights situation in the region.

The entire region is now under the control of heavily armed Indian security forces. It is stated that India has deployed nearly 900,000 security people to control unarmed Kashmiris, and nearly 80,000 civilians and others have been killed in the conflicts during the past 7 decades.
