While India’s capital New Delhi has become a veritable hell where it is extremely difficult to live for normal human beings, now the local government is trying to take steps to make Delhi a livable town.
In the last couple of days, the Lt. Governor (LG) of Delhi Anil Baijal announced a slew of plans which are aimed to address increasing problems in the city-state.
According to an LG office communique, Baijal discussed with Delhi chief minister (CM) Arvind Kejriwal various measures to reduce air pollution and congestion in Delhi. Today, Delhi is the world’s most polluted national capital where pollution is killing at least 15,000 people every year.
Instead of taking steps to reduce pollution in the city, the government has been introducing reckless policies such as floor area ratio (FAR) construction which is spreading lethal dust and air pollution in housing societies where millions of people live.

According to an LG office communique, the government is exploring options of staggered opening and closing hours of offices and other establishments to reduce congestion and resultant air pollution.
The government through the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) – which is among the most corrupt government departments of India – is working on the preparation of Master Plan Delhi-2041 (MPD-2041) with the aim to create a habitable infrastructure in Delhi.
According to the government, MPD-2041 should have a transformative plan including eco-sensitive redevelopment, high-quality environment, and sustainable infrastructure. “It should endeavor to make Delhi the culture capital with economic opportunities and high-quality living,” the statement added.

While Delhi has emerged as the crime capital of India where criminal gangs are operating openly, Baijal directed Delhi Police to deal sternly with organized crimes. He advised Delhi Police Commissioner to institutionalize periodic coordination meetings with neighboring states for action against criminals who are dealing in illegal firearms and peddling drugs.
Baijal also directed Delhi Police to undertake special checks near educational institutions, colleges, schools, etc. to prevent luring of children and adolescents into drugs.
While corruption is also rampant in Delhi, Baijal and Kejriwal do not have any plan to combat corruption which is happening in almost every street of the city.
