BJP Says Citizens Rights in Kashmir under Threat. Withdraws from PDP-BJP Alliance
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today announced its decision to withdraw from its alliance with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) headed by Mehbooba Mufti in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).
While explaining the reasons for the withdrawal, Ram Madhav, National General Secretary of BJP, said that terrorism, violence and radicalization have risen and fundamental rights of the citizens are under danger in the Kashmir valley.
Kashmir has always been a conflict area between India and Pakistan since 1947 when both these countries got freedom from the British rule. In order to stake their claims over Kashmir, India and Pakistan have fought two bloody wars in 1965 and 1971, besides incessant skirmishes between the rival armies.
Pakistan is leaving no stone unturned to internationalize the burning Kashmir issue as local Kashmiris are facing the wrath of Indian security forces.

BJP’s decision to withdraw from its alliance with PDP comes days after the release of UN Human Rights report on Kashmir that has called for an international inquiry.
The report said that there is an urgent need to address past and ongoing human rights violations and abuses and deliver justice for all people in Kashmir, who for seven decades have suffered a conflict that has claimed or ruined numerous lives.
“Restoring peace in Kashmir and encouraging fast development in Jammu and Kashmir were the objectives that we joined with PDP,” Madhav said indicating that these objectives are not met.
He also added that Modi government has done a lot for the state’s development, but PDP failed to control the situation.
Recently, he said, BJP had appointed an interlocutor for the state to talk with all the stakeholders so that the deteriorating situation in the state could come under control. But since the situation in Kashmir valley continues to be bad, BJP has decided to hand over the governance to the governor of J&K.
