Disney Acquires Comic Book by Stan Lee

Disney Publishing Worldwide (DPW) has announced the acquisition of a new book based on the Chinese zodiac written by comic book legend Stan Lee with Stuart Moore, featuring illustrations by comics artist Andie Tong.

Zodiac is stated to be an action-packed illustrated novel that follows Steven Lee, a young Chinese-American teen who is drawn into a mysterious conspiracy surrounding twelve mystical pools of energy and a power-hungry secret organization.

When he and other randomly chosen teens around the world are suddenly gifted with magical powers, they’ll have to find each other and learn how to handle fantastic abilities and responsibilities. Their greatest hopes and deepest fears will be brought to light by the powers of the zodiac!

Working from a core concept pitched by Lee and POW! Entertainment and developed with DPW, SVP and group publisher Jeanne Mosure appointed acquiring editor Nachie Marsham to the project, who ultimately paired Moore and Tong with Lee to complete the team behind Zodiac.

In a similar development, Cartoon Network, Graphic India and POW! Entertainment have announced a partnership that will bring to life Stan Lee’s first ever Indian superhero. Named Chakra: The Invincible, the film will premiere on Cartoon Network on Saturday, Nov. 30. (Read: Stan Lee’s Indian Superhero Chakra on Cartoon Network)

ZODIAC will be published as a hardcover original and goes on sale Jan. 27, 2015. For more information go to http://DisneyZodiac.com
