Have You Ever Had a One Night Stand?
AdamEve.com, America’s leading source for adult products, claims it is never afraid to ask the hard questions when it comes to anything sexual.
This month, Adam & Eve wanted to find out how many American adults had ever had a one night stand — and the answer may surprise you, it says.
When Adam & Eve asked 1,000 American adults if they have ever engaged in a one-time, no-strings-attached sexual encounter, a whopping 58.1% admitted that they have. Of these positive respondents, 79% were male and 21% were female.
While Americans are having more sex (151 times a year / 2.9 times a week) compared to 2011 (120 times a year / 2.3 times a week), sexual satisfaction is on the decline, with 67 percent of Americans claiming to be satisfied with their sex life in 2012 versus 76 percent in 2011. Dr. Kat Van Kirk, Adam & Eve’s resident sexpert, says these results are higher than expected, though not alarming. “There are many reasons people choose to have a one night stand,” says Dr. Kat.
“From exploring one’s sexuality to a random hook-up outside a relationship… as long as both partners have the same expectations, a one night stand can be a positive release of sexual energy. Of course, safety is always a top priority.”
