How to Make Wedding Dress with Toilet Paper
After weeks of hard work and anticipation, Lake Orchard, Michigan native – Susan Brennan – was named the winner of the Eighth Annual Cheap Chic Weddings Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest, presented by Cheap-Chic-Weddings.com and sponsored in part by Procter & Gamble (P&G) brand Charmin.
Final judging took place Wednesday at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Times Square Odditorium, where Brennan received a check for $2,012.
With over 700 entries this year, participants were required to construct their wedding dresses out of nothing more than Charmin toilet paper, tape, glue and/or needle and thread.
[ Also Read: Top 10 Wedding Trends for 2012 ]Contest host Cheap-Chic-Weddings.com, which operates as a money-saving website for brides-to-be, began the annual contest eight years ago based on the popular bridal shower game. As the contest has increased in popularity from year to year, so has the level of competition, says the company.
Earlier, Jane Lynch joined the Charmin brand as emcee of the culminating event of a two-month nationwide search to find the Charmin Go Nation King or Queen of the Throne.
Alabama’s contest representative, Iris Hill, was crowned the winner and awarded the $50,000 grand prize after proving her throne-worthiness in bathroom trivia knowledge and on point toilet paper, mummy-wrapping skills. (Read: Meet the New Toilet Queen Iris Hill)
Moreover, Kim Kardashian joined the P&G Charmin brand, New York residents, and a crowd of excited holiday shoppers to officially open the Charmin Restrooms.
A gift to the City of New York, the Restrooms offered a free, clean and family-friendly place to “enjoy the go” during the holiday shopping season. (Read: Kim Kardashian Gets into Charmin Restrooms)
“The quality of talent that presents itself each year always amazes us,” says Susan Bain, one of the founders of Cheap Chic Weddings. “This year’s entries included several dresses that had intricate details like faux embroidery, ruffles, pleats and even lace effects.”
[ Also Read: How to Give Dream Wedding to a Couple ]Charmin is a sponsor of the contest for the second time and provided coupons for contest entrants to help cover the cost of purchasing the rolls of Charmin used in creating each dress, which ranged in amount from 10 rolls to nearly 50 rolls in some cases and featured Charmin Basic, Charmin Ultra Soft and Charmin Ultra Strong designs.

Susan Brennan was joined at the finale event by the other two contest finalists. Katrina Chalifoux was the runner-up, and received a check for $1,000, while Jennifer Henry placed third and received a check for $500.
