Katie Loeb Wins Barenjager Bartender Competition

Barenjager Honey Liqueur has announced Katie Loeb of Philadelphia as Queen Bee and first-ever female winner of the brand’s third annual national Barenjager Bartender Competition. The announcement was made Tuesday, Sept. 11.

Loeb took home an all-expense paid trip for two to Oktoberfest 2012 in Munich, Germany and $1,000.

The judging panel selected Loeb’s BarenBerry Mule from over 400 submissions from top talent across the nation.

Barenberry Mule by Katie Loeb, Philadelphia, PA

In a shaker combine:

  • 2 parts Rittenhouse 100 proof Rye Whiskey
  • 1 part Barenjager honey liqueur
  • 1 part fresh lemon juice
  • ¾ parts Berry Thyme Essence
  • 2 dashes peychaud’s bitters

Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice, shake well and strain into a highball glass full of fresh ice. Top with Reed’s Extra Ginger Brew Ginger beer and garnish with a lemon twist and a blackberry.

Made in Germany, Barenjager is a 70 proof honey liqueur made from neutral grain alcohol and pure premium natural honey from Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula.

Each liter bottle contains 300 grams of pure honey and other natural ingredients resulting in a subtly sweet, spicy and herb edged taste profile.
