New Congress CM Kamal Nath Waives Off Loans of Farmers in MP
Immediately after his oath ceremony today, Congress leader and the new chief minister (CM) of Madhya Pradesh (MP) Kamal Nath officially signed the files required for waiving off farm loans in the state.
Loans of farmers up to Rs 2 lakh – from nationalized or co-operative banks – till March 31 of 2018 have been waived off.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was making one of the main poll promises to waive off farmers’ loans as hundreds of thousands of farmers have been protesting against PM Narendra Modi and his party BJP for not fulfilling their promises regarding farm loans.
“वादों को पूरा करना ही कांग्रेस के शासन का मुख्य ध्येय है। मध्य प्रदेश में किसानों की कर्ज माफी इसी दिशा में उठाया गया कदम है।,” Congress tweeted today.

Last month, Rahul Gandhi had said that his Congress party will help the farmers even if it has to remove the government headed by Modi.
Over 100,000 farmers from all over India were participating in a protest called Kisan Mukti March in New Delhi. It was organized by the All India Kisan Sangharsh Co-ordination Committee (AIKSCC).
