The Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi said today that the former U.S. President Barack Obama will soon buy carpets made in Uttar Pradesh (U.P.), a large state in India.
Rahul Gandhi – who was addressing an election rally in U.P. – was trying to explain the export potential from U.P., indicating that among other products the state will export carpets that Obama and others will buy.
However, Rahul Gandhi completely ignored the current U.S. President Donald Trump’s resolve who is trying to introduce a new era of protectionism conceived around his slogan of ‘buy American and hire American’. Trump does not prefer to import products from other nations.
Nevertheless, the Congress leader used Obama as an example because President Obama is extremely popular among Indians.
With these remarks, Rahul Gandhi was also attacking his political opponent India’s Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi who has failed miserably in creating jobs for people, as under his rule the Indian export revenues have been falling and the industry has almost come to a standstill.

Rahul Gandhi also said that Modi has been making false promises with Indians in order to cheat them while the truth is that he has failed on all fronts in the past over 2 years of his rule in India.
A fierce critic of Modi’s demonetization decision, Rahul Gandhi said the Indian PM decided to remove the currency from the market to benefit his rich capitalist friends.
The Congress leader said he will go to every district of U.P. after winning the state election and help revive the local industry in order to create more job opportunities.
He also said that Modi’s days are numbered and he will be sent back (to his state Gujarat) when Congress will defeat Modi’s BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
