President Putin to Work Closely with President Trump
The President of Russia Vladimir Putin sent today a message of congratulations to Donald Trump on his victory in the U.S. presidential election.
In his message, Putin said he hopes to work together to lift Russian-U.S. relations out of the current crisis, resolve issues on the international agenda, look for effective responses to global security challenges.
During his election speeches, Trump had always praised Putin despite America’s strained relations with Russia.

Trump’s open support for Putin was seen as a threat to American democracy. Trump’s opponents had even launched an online project which warned that voting Trump / Pence in 2016 could lead to a Putin / Trump world in 2017.
Putin said he is confident that Moscow and Washington can establish a constructive dialogue based on the principles of equality, mutual respect, and genuine consideration for each other’s positions.
He added this would be in the interests of people in both the countries and of the entire international community. Putin wished Trump success in the high office and responsibility of head of state.
