The Delhi unit of the women wing of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a demonstration today outside the residence of Delhi chief minister in a case involving a minister who had allegedly threatened a woman IAS officer.
It is said that Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot had threatened Transport Secretary Varsha Joshi, IAS at a meeting last week when the latter urged the minister to follow proper tendering procedures for the procurement of buses in an order worth Rs. 2,500 crore.
AAP, however, claims that the minister was upset with the officer as both differed while reviewing the replies of the Transport department to questions to be asked in the Monsoon Session of the Assembly which began today.

Ms. Joshi issued a slew of tweets to inform about the initiatives taken by the Transport department to ensure efficiency and remove corruption in the department, where she works as secretary-cum-commissioner.

Meanwhile, a Delhi MP Meenakashi Lekhi today raised the issue of threats to Joshi in Lok Sabha. Ms. Lekhi informed that Kejriwal – who is trying to get CCTV cameras installed in entire Delhi – got the CCTV cameras switched off in the office so that his minister’s misbehavior should not get recorded.

With this incident, the ongoing conflict between Kejriwal’s cabal and IAS officers has worsened. The IAS officers are on a virtual strike for the past many months as a couple of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders had allegedly beaten up chief secretary of Delhi government.

Earlier, Kejriwal and his ministers also sat on a dharna in the office of the Lt. Governor (LG) of Delhi Anil Baijal. They were demanding the end of bureaucrats’ strike among other approvals from Baijal, while the LG office had stated that the dharna is “without any reason” and Baijal refused to meet Kejriwal.
The bureaucrats including IAS officers have not been interacting with Kejriwal government after an alleged assault on Delhi chief secretary Anshu Prakash in February at Kejriwal’s residence. They were demanding Kejriwal’s apology for the said attack on Delhi Government’s top bureaucrat.

The bureaucrats may not be cooperating with Kejriwal during the past 4 months, but Kejriwal government could not perform in the past over 3 years of its rule in Delhi and today with mounting corruption, pollution, and misgovernance, the city has become a veritable hell for the people.
