The new U.S. President Donald Trump issued an executive order Wednesday to make a physical wall on the southern border.
A White House communique revealed that the step has been taken to prevent illegal immigration, drug and human trafficking, and acts of terrorism.
The Trump Administration believes that the recent surge of illegal immigration at the southern border with Mexico has placed a significant strain on Federal resources and overwhelmed agencies charged with border security and immigration enforcement.
The wall is also expected to protect the lives of American people, as Trump believes that immigrants are committing many crimes in the U.S.

President Trump orders the relevant departments to produce a comprehensive study of the security of the southern border, to be completed within 180 days of his order.
Meanwhile, the Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto expressed his regret today on Trump’s decision that he said will divide the people of U.S. and Mexico. He also said that Mexico will review its bilateral ties with the U.S.

Trump also is facing local opposition to his decision to build the wall. Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts said Wednesday that Trump’s actions show an ugly indifference to immigrants and a profound misunderstanding of the real dangers we face.

Trump had repeatedly said in his election speeches that Mexico has taken advantage of America, as Mexican gangs, drug traffickers, and cartels have freely exploited America’s open borders and committed a vast number of crimes inside the country.

He had proposed a 1000-mile-long, 30-ft-high wall, which will cost up to $10 billion. Trump had said he will make Mexico pay for the wall, although now he has not reiterated his payment demand.
Trump also had said during his campaign last year that if he became the U.S. president, he will constitute a deportation army to shoo out 11 million illegal immigrants from the United States.
