UN Honors Mamata Banerjee with Kanyashree Award
The United Nations, on the occasion of UN Public Service Day on Friday, awarded the United Nations Public Services first place winner award to West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee.
The Kanyashree award was given for helping the poorest and most vulnerable people through inclusive services and participation. According to the Government of West Bengal, there were 552 nominations from 62 countries for the Kanyashree award.

The award is in recognition of excellence in public service for sustainable development, innovation, and commitment to leave no one behind in the development agenda of the government.

“We are proud of our Kanyashree. It is indeed a historic achievement and a proud moment for the people of West Bengal and India,” a government statement said.
