World Premiere of Music Series From The Basement
3net, a joint venture 24/7 3D network from Sony, Discovery and IMAX – will bring a new season of the seminal music program From The Basement to 3D viewers for the first time ever with the world television premiere Sunday, July 15 (9PM ET/PT).
The six one-hour episodes – produced by music producer and Radiohead’s “sixth member” Nigel Godrich – will include appearances by some of the most respected artists in music today. The series kicks off on 3net with premiere episode performances by The Shins, Aimee Mann and Father John Misty.

[ Also Read: How 3D Is Making Inroads in the Entertainment World ]The series premiere on 3net features songs from indie rock group The Shins, whose fourth studio album Port of Morrow is the band’s first in five years. The Shins driving force, James Mercer, invited a cast of musicians and collaborators both old and new to perform during their session for From The Basement, with a set list that includes: “No Way Down,” “Bait and Switch,” “It’s Only Life,” “Rifle Spiral,” and the album’s title track, “Port of Morrow.”
‘Til Tuesday co-founder and enduring solo artist Aimee Mann contributes three songs: “Slip and Roll” from her new album Charmer, the Grammy and Academy Award-nominated ballad “Save Me,” and “Living a Lie,” also from her forthcoming album and featuring The Shins front man James Mercer.
American folk singer Joshua Tillman performs three songs from Fear Fun, his eighth solo album and first as Father John Misty, including: “I’m Writing a Novel,” “Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings,” and “Now I’m Learning to Love the War.”
3net will premiere a new episode of the six-part series each month for the remainder of 2012. Future artist appearances, track lists and detailed episodic information from the Los Angeles and London-based series will be announced soon.
From The Basement will also premiere in 2D in August on Sony Picture Entertainment’s multi-platform video network Crackle, as well as on a linear basis in the UK on Sky 3D and Sky Arts HD.
All music in From The Basement is produced by Nigel Godrich. Dilly Gent, James Chads, John Woollcombe and Godrich are series producers. “From The Basement” is produced by FTB3 for 3net in association with Sony Pictures Television Networks and Crackle.
